Standard three: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning.
Why is standard three important?
Planning is an important part of the teaching profession. With effective planning, effective teaching and learning can occur within the classroom environment. As teachers we have to establish challenging goals/aims for lower ability and higher ability students in the classroom. Planning and using different types of teaching strategies within a classroom environment is important because some students might not understand the first teaching strategy. Teachers have to also use effective types of communications to cater for different abilities in the classroom. Collaboration with parents and carers is an important part of the teaching process, because parents and carers could help with problems that the child might be facing in the classroom and this helps to cater for abilities and the learning process.

Action Plan 3: where to from here?
During my Term 3 professional experience I gave all different ability students challenging learning goals, I used WALT/WILF statements throughout all of my lessons, and used timetables to inform students what they were going to be learning in that session on an interactive ‘Promethean’ board. I used Class Dojos as a reward system and a negative classroom behavioural system. I used a lot of ICT effectively to add interest to my lessons, to engage learners and help with visual learning students in the classroom. I planned lessons and used different strategies to vary lessons. However, this is one area where I may need to look back upon, I believe I need to be more adventurous and trial a variety of strategies to see which works best and add more variety to my lessons, this will mean there is more diversity of learning in my classroom.
I believe that I developed a calm, controlled classroom environment as the term went on. I have also been present and have expressed my opinions during formal parents’ meetings and have also dealt incidentally with parents making various inquiries about their children.
