Name: Alun Hixson
Age: 24
Favorite food: Kebab
Favorite sport: Rugby Union

My name is Alun Hixson and I am 21 years old. I can speak English and Thai fluently. I was born in Thailand and moved here recently to attend university. I enjoy playing a variety of sports although during my schooling years I suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in my knee through playing a number of different sports. I underwent major surgery on my knee at the age of 16, and I was not able to play sports for up to a year. Through the one-year period I attend knee rehabilitation.
In high school I underwent a course called CAS, it is short for Creative, Action and Service. CAS is part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The CAS program has made me more aware of my surroundings, because through it I developed new skills, and tried things that I would not have done on my own, for example; recycling, and helping a local village build a new library for their school, in the north of Thailand. I also helped build a medical ship by completing numerous tasks on board.
University has taught me a lot of things, for example; through the assessments in each unit I have developed stronger literacy skills and note taking abilities.
University has helped developed my social and academic skills and it has given me a strong desire to educate and teach children and that is why I am currently studying Primary Education and years 1-10 Health and Physical Education. As this degree progresses, I look forward to the challenges of learning new knowledge, tools and skills that will enable me to become a more successful educator for the benefit of the students that I will teach.
